"I had written the final two books of what would be The Shamra Chronicles. I created a new villain, Chaos, who put the Trocs to shame. My problem with Chaos, initially, was trying to figure out how such an entity could be defeated. Shamra Divided introduces the reader to Chaos and his minions. And, in Shamra Reunited (aka Chaos Unleashed) Chaos plays an even more pivotal role. As a result, in my final tweak of Curse of the Shamra I added some foreshadowing of the menace to come. The Dara character is aware, in the first book, that there is a greater evil to face than the Trocs. She meets Chaos in her dreams, but is only aware this is an entity she may not be able to defeat.
